PRAYING WITH POPE FRANCIS FOR PEACE IN SOUTH SUDAN

A prayer service for peace will be held at the Vatican under the theme “Building Peace together: Come to the prayer with Pope Francis in St Peter’s for Peace in South Sudan and RD Congo”.

The prayer with Pope Francis is an initiative of Solidarity with South Sudan (SSS), a group of Religious congregations, males and females, working together in South Sudan to train teachers, nurses, midwives, local farmers and community leaders, and the Justice and Peace Commission (JPIC).

The prayer service has a direct collaboration of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG), which is a worldwide, canonically approved organization of Superiors General of Institutes of Catholic Women Religious.

For the organisers, this prayer initiative with Pope Francis for peace in South Sudan and Congo “is a special occasion to pray together for the urgent need of peace in the world, especially in these two African nations that are so badly affected by violence and internal conflicts. This is also intended to make people more responsible and peacemakers”.

Collaborate also with the prayer with Pope Francis the Diocese of Rome, the Service of Documentation and Study on Global Mission (SEDOS), which is a forum open to Institutes of Consecrated Life, and Voices of Faith, an organisation that plays an important role in advancing the role of women in the Catholic Church.

The prayer with Pope Francis for Peace in South Sudan and RD Congo will be held on Thursday 23rd November at 5.30pm in St Peter’s at the Vatican.
